Encore Audio is free while it's in beta. Thank you for helping. Your feedback decides what gets fixed and built next.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC on your home network, to run the Encore Audio server. It needs to be on while you listen.
- Your music files on that PC or on a NAS (ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3 or DSD).
- One or more network streamers (WiiM, HiFi Rose, Bluesound, Sonos or any DLNA/UPnP player), and/or an Android phone or tablet (Android 8 or later).
Downloads
Encore Audio for Windows
Encore Audio for Android
The Android app will move to Google Play's testing programme shortly. Until then, install it from the file: open it on your phone and allow installation when Android asks.
Windows will warn you about the installer. Because this early version isn't yet signed with a code-signing
certificate, Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The final
release will be signed.
Setting up
- Install and start Encore Audio. Allow it through Windows Firewall on private networks when asked. This lets your streamers reach it.
- Choose your music folder in the welcome window. A big library takes a few minutes to read the first time.
- Pick a streamer in the player list at the bottom right of the window, open an album and press Play.
- On your phone: install the app, and it finds Encore on your Wi-Fi. In Encore, go to Settings → Phone and tablet → Pair a phone or tablet, and type the code into the app.
- Optional: listen away from home. Settings → Away from home explains how to open a port on your router. Help (the ? button) has step-by-step guides and troubleshooting.
Sending feedback
Email contact@encoreaudio.co.uk. It helps a lot if you include:
- which streamers, phone and DAC or headphones you use,
- what you did, what you expected and what happened instead,
- for a problem on the PC: Encore's log (Help → Open log), attached to the email,
- for a sound problem on the phone: Sound → Output → Copy audio diagnostics, pasted into the email.
We'd especially love to hear how it sounds on your system, how it compares with what you use now, and anything that's confusing.
Known issues
- There's no iPhone or iPad app yet.
- A VPN running on the Encore PC can stop streamers or phones away from home reaching it. Turn the VPN off, or add Encore.exe to its split tunnelling.
- Beta versions don't update themselves yet: check this page for new versions.
